Bank of England: ecco le nuove banconote di Re Carlo III
Sono state svelate le prime immagini delle nuove banconote con il ritratto di Re Carlo III. A diffondere le immagini è stata la Bank of England.
Finalmente sono state svelate le immagini delle banconote che entreranno in circolazione a partire da metà 2024. Le banconote da 5, 10, 20 e 50 sterline sul fronte presentano il ritratto di Carlo III, ma per il resto sono invariate.
Il volto del Monarca, che sostituirà quello della Regina Elisabetta II, è stato realizzato da un artista partendo da un ritratto di corte del 2013. L'effigie starà sul fronte delle banconote, mentre sul retro, come da tradizione, ci sarà l'immagine dei personaggi storici del Regno Unito.
Il Governatore della Bank of England Andrew Bailey ha dichiarato che questo è un momento significativo, dato che il Re è soltanto il secondo Monarca che appare sulle banconote in circolazione. Infatti la decisione di raffigurare i regnanti sulle banconote è iniziata soltanto nel 1960, quando appunto Elisabetta II era già Capo di Stato.

BANK OF ENGLAND: HERE ARE KING CHARLES III’S NEW BANKNOTES
The first images of the new banknotes with the portrait of King Charles III were unveiled. The Bank of England spread the images.
The images of the banknotes that will come into circulation from mid-2024 have finally been unveiled. The 5, 10, 20 and 50 pound notes on the front have the portrait of Charles III, but otherwise are unchanged.
The Monarch’s face, which will replace that of Queen Elizabeth II, was created by an artist from a 2013 court portrait. The effigy will be on the front of the banknotes, while on the back, as usual, there will be the image of the historical characters of the United Kingdom.
The Governor of the Bank of England, Andrew Bailey, has stated that this is a significant moment, as the King is only the second Monarch to appear on banknotes in circulation. In fact, the decision to depict the rulers on banknotes began only in 1960, when Elizabeth II was already Head of State.
