Festival "Donne di Mafia" torna come evento in presenza con due meravigliosi film sulle donne Defiant. Domenica 3 Aprile, presso The Garden Cinema (39-41 Parker StreetWC2B 5PQ), a partire dalle ore 3:00 pm, avranno luogo la proiezione del film di Kim Longinotto "Shooting the Mafia" e un'anteprima di "A Chiara" di Jonas Carpignano.

Per le strade della Sicilia, la bella e coraggiosa Letizia Battaglia ha puntato la sua macchina fotografica dritta nel cuore della mafia che la circondava e ha iniziato a girare. Le foto sorprendenti e pericolose per la vita che ha scattato documentando il governo di Cosa Nostra definiscono la sua carriera.
Questo documentario intreccia le straordinarie fotografie in bianco e nero di Battaglia, i rari filmati d'archivio, i classici film italiani e i ricordi dell'ormai 84enne, per dipingere il ritratto di una donna straordinaria il cui coraggio e la cui sfida hanno contribuito a smascherare la brutale mafia crimini.

La storia di Chiara, 15 anni, la cui affiatata famiglia va in pezzi dopo che il padre l'ha abbandonata in Calabria. Chiara inizia a indagare per capire perché suo padre è scomparso e man mano che si avvicina alla verità, è costretta a decidere che tipo di futuro desidera per se stessa.

On the streets of Sicily, the beautiful and courageous Letizia Battaglia pointed her camera straight into the heart of the mafia that surrounded her and started shooting. The startling and life-threatening photos she took documenting the Cosa Nostra government define her career.
This documentary intertwines Battaglia's extraordinary black and white photographs, rare archive footage, classic Italian films and the memories of the now 84-year-old, to paint the portrait of an extraordinary woman whose courage and challenge helped unmask the brutal mafia crimes.
