Governo Britannico, Truss vs Sunak: l'ultimo passaggio per nominare il nuovo Premier
È una lotta tra l'ex Cancelliere Rishi Sunak e il Segretario agli Affari Esteri Liz Truss, il vincitore sarà il prossimo Primo Ministro del Regno Unito. I due vanno verso la seconda fase della sfida per la leadership del Partito Conservatore. Il risultato sarà annunciato il 5 Settembre.
Penny Mordaunt è stata messa fuori gioco e ora Sunak e Truss andranno in un testa a testa per assicurarsi il sostegno dei Tory durante l'estate.
Nella prima fase del turno eliminatorio Sunak era il favorito, Truss l'outsider, favorita secondo un sondaggio Technè UK, era indietro su Mordaunt, ma nella votazione finale Sunak ha ottenuto 137 voti, Truss ha ottenuto 113 voti e Mordaunt è stata eliminata con 105 voti. I due hanno potuto spendere fino a £ 300.000 ciascuno durante la sfida alla leadership per convincere gli iscritti del Partito Conservatore.
Gli iscritti conservatori voteranno per posta: le schede sono arrivate presso alcune case degli iscritti tra il 1º Agosto e il 5 Agosto. Altre schede arriveranno entro l'11 Agosto per via di alcuni problemi di sicurezza. Dopo la votazione il risultato finale sarà annunciato il 5 Settembre.
Truss ha ricevuto il sostegno di Maurizio Bragagni e Lord Greville Howard, entrambi donatori. Bragagni, Amministratore Delegato di Tratos Ltd, ha sostenuto apertamente Truss in queste settimane. Sunak è stato sostenuto da molti altri donatori Tory tra cui Lord Michael Farmer e Lord Rami Ranger.

BRITISH GOVERNMENT, TRUSS VS SUNAK: THE LAST STEP TO APPOINT THE NEW PREMIER
It's a fight between former Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, the winner will be the UK's next Prime Minister. The two move in the second stage of the Conservative Party leadership contest. The result will be announced on September 5.
Penny Mordaunt was knocked out and now Sunak and Truss will go into a head-to-head contest to secure the backing of the Tories over the summer.
In the first stage of elimination rounds Sunak was the frontrunner, Truss the outsider, favorite according to a Technè UK poll, lagging behind Mordaunt, but in the final ballot Sunak got 137 votes, Truss got 113, and Mordaunt eliminated on 105. The two were able to spend up to £300,000 each throughout the leadership contest in order to convince Conservative members.
Conservative members will vote in a postal vote: ballot papers arrived on some members' doorsteps between August 1 and August 5. Other ballot papers will arrive no later than August 11 due to security problems. After the vote the final result will be announced on September 5.
Truss has received the backing of Maurizio Bragagni and Lord Greville Howard, both donors. Bragagni, CEO of Tratos Ltd, openly backed Truss in these weeks. Sunak has been backed by more Tory donors including Lord Michael Farmer and Lord Rami Ranger.
