"Much Ado": come rendere moderno Shakespeare
Il 24 Aprile è uscito sulle piattaforme digitali il nuovo film delle sorelle Anna-Elizabeth e Hillary Shakespeare. "Much Ado" ricalca la tragicommedia del Bardo "Molto rumore per nulla", trasportandola nel mondo di oggi.
Le sorelle Shakespeare hanno prodotto e diretto il loro ultimo lavoro tributandolo al grande William Shakespeare. "Much Ado" ricalca i testi originali della tragicommedia romantica del poeta inglese, ma il tutto viene letteralmente catapultato ai nostri tempi, in una villa di campagna. I protagonisti non sono più uomini e donne di una Sicilia spagnola, ma ragazzi e ragazze alle prese con la prima fase della loro età adulta.
Nel film le protagoniste Ero e Beatrice, cugine e migliori amiche, mostrano approcci molto diversi all'amore. Beatrice, rimasta delusa in passato, evita il suo arrogante ex ragazzo Benedetto e ha rinunciato agli uomini in generale. Ero, una vera romantica, è profondamente innamorata dell'amico di Benedetto, Claudio, ma è troppo timida per dirlo. Quando saranno tutti "intrappolati" in una villa vacanziera con l'intera squadra di rugby, saranno costretti ad affrontare le mille domande che li assillano.
"Much Ado" è un tentativo riuscito di attualizzare William Shakespeare, senza snaturarlo. L'opera viene mantenuta fedele ai testi originali, ma è resa esteticamente vicina a noi, dando la possibilità ai ragazzi di oggi di conoscere uno dei capolavori della Letteratura Inglese. Il cast composto da giovani ragazzi e le ambientazioni amene concedono quella leggerezza che sicuramente a teatro non si troverebbe. La forza del film è quella di rendere fruibile al vasto pubblico giovane qualcosa che altrimenti ignorerebbero. Non vi resta che guardare "Much Ado" e giudicare voi stessi.

"MUCH ADO": HOW TO MODERNISE SHAKESPEARE
On April 24, the new film of the sisters Anna-Elizabeth and Hillary Shakespeare was released on digital platforms. "Much Ado" follows the tragicomedy of the Bard "Much Ado About Nothing", transporting it into today’s world.
The Shakespeare sisters produced and directed their last work in tribute to the great William Shakespeare. "Much Ado" traces the original lyrics of the romantic tragicomedy of the English poet, but everything is literally catapulted to our times, in a country house. The protagonists are no longer men and women of a Spanish Sicily, but boys and girls struggling with the first stage of their adulthood.
In the film Hero and Beatrice, cousins and best friends, have very different approaches to love. Beatrice, burned once, is fiercely avoiding her arrogant ex-boyfriend Benedick and has sworn off men in general. Hero, a true romantic, is deeply in love with Benedick's friend Claudio, but too shy to say it. When they get "trapped" in a house with the entire boys rugby team, they'll be forced to face the questions they'd been avoiding.
"Much Ado" is a successful attempt to update William Shakespeare, without distorting it. The work is kept faithful to the original texts, but is rendered aesthetically close to us, giving the opportunity to today’s youngsters to know one of the masterpieces of English Literature. The cast of young boys and girls and the pleasant settings allow the lightness that surely would not be found in the theater. The strength of the film is to make something that it would be otherwise ignored accessible to the young audience. All you have to do is watch "Much Ado" and judge yourself.
