Federico Zanni, il talento italiano nel tour britannico di “Jersey Boys”

Federico Zanni, in arte Fed Zanni, è tra i protagonisti del tour del ventesimo anniversario di Jersey Boys, il pluripremiato musical dedicato alla storia di Frankie Valli e dei Four Seasons.
Nello spettacolo, Zanni interpreta Gyp DeCarlo, figura legata all’ambiente criminale del New Jersey e personaggio importante nelle vicende personali e professionali della band. Un ruolo lontano dai quattro protagonisti musicali, ma determinante per restituire le atmosfere, le tensioni e le zone d’ombra che accompagnarono la loro straordinaria ascesa.

Per Zanni, entrare nel cast di una produzione internazionale vincitrice di Tony, Grammy e Olivier Award rappresenta una nuova tappa di un percorso professionale sviluppato prevalentemente nel Regno Unito.
Originario di Modena, l’attore si è formato alla prestigiosa ArtsEd di Londra, costruendo nel tempo una carriera capace di unire teatro di prosa, musical e canto. Tra le sue esperienze figura A View from the Bridge all’Haymarket Theatre del West End, dove è stato understudy per il ruolo di Eddie Carbone. Ha inoltre interpretato Pancho in The Night of the Iguana al Lyric Theatre, Basilius in Head Over Heels all’Hope Mill Theatre e Koko in The Mikado.
Particolarmente significativo anche il ruolo di Mario Carità in Glory Ride, musical ispirato alla storia del campione italiano Gino Bartali e alle sue azioni durante la Seconda guerra mondiale. Il pubblico londinese lo ha inoltre conosciuto nei panni di Nikos nel cast originale di Mamma Mia! The Party alla O2 Arena, oltre che come solista nel tour europeo di The 12 Tenors.

Dopo l’apertura al New Wimbledon Theatre, lo spettacolo sta attraversando il Regno Unito e l’Irlanda con tappe a Bradford, Cardiff, Manchester, Edimburgo, Birmingham, Southampton, Belfast, Glasgow, Oxford e in numerose altre città. La tournée proseguirà fino all’estate del 2027.

The Modena-born actor, professionally known as Fed Zanni, discusses his new role, life on tour and a career built on British stages
From Modena to some of Britain’s leading theatres, via the West End and several major musical productions: Federico Zanni, professionally known as Fed Zanni, is part of the cast of the 20th-anniversary tour of Jersey Boys, the award-winning musical telling the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Zanni plays Gyp DeCarlo, a figure connected to New Jersey’s criminal underworld who became an important presence in the band’s personal and professional story. Although separate from the musical’s four central characters, his role is crucial in recreating the atmosphere, tension and darker side of their extraordinary rise to fame.
In the video interview, the Italian actor discusses his relationship with the character and the work required to portray an authoritative and charismatic figure deeply rooted in the Italian-American world in which the story unfolds.
Jersey Boys tells the true story of four young men from the streets of New Jersey who created a distinctive new sound and quickly climbed the international charts.
