Witness for the Prosecution alla London County Hall: un classico avvincente prende vita
“Witness for the Prosecution” messo in scena presso la London County Hall è una storia avvincente dall’inizio alla fine. La sede unica – la Council Chamber situata al centro della County Hall – ci catapulta immediatamente nella storia intensamente emotiva di Leonard Vole, il nostro sospettato di omicidio, mentre attraversa le fasi dell’indagine e del successivo processo.
Questo classico giallo dell’acclamata autrice Agatha Christie è realizzato alla perfezione, dalla messa in scena alle interpretazioni. Ogni spettatore avrà il proprio personaggio preferito, poiché ogni singolo membro di questo cast corale offre una performance al massimo livello. Le interpretazioni di spicco di Harry Chandler e Charlotte Beaumont, nei ruoli di Leonard Vole e sua moglie Romaine, sono quanto di più convincente si possa vedere, e susciteranno un’ampia gamma di emozioni: dalla simpatia all’ilarità fino alla rabbia. Nonostante il minimalismo scenografico, i set ci trasportano con naturalezza dalla forca all’aula di tribunale, alle stanze private, fino a Limehouse e ritorno, senza perdere un colpo.
Questa storia di bugie, inganni e tradimenti è un classico che non delude, tenendoti con il fiato sospeso fino alla sua risoluzione. Quando lo spettacolo ha raggiunto il suo culmine e la storia ha iniziato a svelarsi, non si può certo biasimare lo spettatore in prima fila che ha esclamato a voce alta per lo shock di fronte al colpo di scena!
Inutile dirlo: non posso che consigliare caldamente questo eccellente spettacolo sia agli appassionati di teatro che ai neofiti.

"Witness for the Prosecution" held in the London County Hall is a gripping story from start to finish. The unique venue - the Council Chamber located at the centre of the County Hall - immediately catapults us in the intensely emotional story of Leonard Vole, our murder suspect, as he experiences the phases of the investigation and subsequent trial.
This classic whodunnit story by famed author Agatha Christie is executed to perfection, from the staging to the performances. Everyone in the audience will have their own favourite character, as every single member of this ensemble cast brings their best performance. Standout performances by Harry Chandler and Charlotte Beaumont, playing Leonard Vole and his wife Romaine, are as convincing as they get, and will elicit a range of emotions from sympathy to hilarity to anger. Despite their minimalism, the sets seamlessly transport us from the gallows to courtroom to chambers to Limehouse and back without skipping a beat.
This story of lies, deception, and betrayal is a classic and does not disappoint, keeping you guessing at its resolution throughout. As the play came to a crescendo and the story started to unravel, one could hardly blame the audience member who, from the first row, audibly exclaimed in shock during at the narrative twist!
Needless to say, I can't help but recommend this excellent play wholeheartedly to theatre enthusiasts and novices alike.
